Creative Learning

HIT Inc.’s Creative Learning Program is ideal for individuals who want to actively engage in volunteer, recreational, and educational experiences throughout the Bismarck and Mandan communities.

Participants enjoy a wide range of activities designed to promote community involvement, personal growth, and creative expression. Some examples include:
 

• Swimming at the YMCA or BSC Aquatic Center
• Volunteering with local businesses and organizations
• Social engagements in the community
• Exploring historic, educational, and entertainment venues
• Participating in games, art projects, and other meaningful activities.

Unique Program Features
The Creative Learning Program is also home to a group of young adults who participate in public speaking, educational workshops, and community discussions, showcasing their skills and advocating for themselves and others.
For those with mobility needs, the program includes MOVE (Mobility Opportunities Via Education/Experience), which provides access to specialized equipment that enables individuals who use wheelchairs to walk and engage in physical activity tailored to their abilities. Participants also benefit from physical therapy and mobility exercises specific to their individual needs—supporting greater flexibility, movement, and physical health.



Building Skills for the Future
Some individuals in the program choose to focus on building prevocational and work-readiness skills through structured activities that support:
 

• Increased attention and focus, following directions, building stamina and developing foundational employment behaviors.

The Creative Learning Program is a person-centered, choice-based environment that supports individuals in living full, engaged, and meaningful lives—while having fun, learning new things, and contributing to their community.
