HIT’s Rec/Leisure Program is designed for individuals who have medical or health-related barriers to employment or who do not have vocational goals. The focus of this program is to provide enriching, person-centered activities that support overall well-being and community involvement.
Participants engage in a variety of recreational and volunteer opportunities both on-site at our facility located at 2640 Sunset Drive NW in Mandan and throughout the Bismarck/Mandan community.
Activities may include:
Community outings such as shopping, coffee trips, and swimming
Volunteering with local organizations
Visiting the sensory room for calming, sensory-rich experiences
Participating in crafts, games, and social activities
Receiving support with daily living tasks and personal care
MOVE Program
The Rec/Leisure Program is also home to MOVE (Mobility Opportunities Via Education/Experience), a specialized initiative that uses adaptive equipment to help individuals who use wheelchairs experience walking and engage in physical activity. MOVE promotes physical wellness, mobility, and inclusion in meaningful movement experiences.
The primary goal of the Rec/Leisure Program is to ensure that every individual has the opportunity to participate in fulfilling, enjoyable, and purposeful activities, while also receiving the support needed to meet their daily living and physical therapy needs.
