Sunset Vocational

At HIT’s Sunset Pre-Vocational Program, our mission is to provide individuals with meaningful work opportunities and the chance to earn a paycheck while building valuable job skills.

Through a variety of internal and community-based work options, participants can explore their interests, gain experience, and prepare for future employment.

Work Opportunities
We proudly offer several work options through HIT-operated small businesses and community contracts:

West River Produce
A licensed commercial kitchen specializing in fruit pizzas, fresh fruit trays, and vegetable trays. Participants learn food preparation, safety, and teamwork in a professional kitchen environment.

West River Lawn Service
This seasonal service provides mowing and yard care for over 25 residential and commercial properties across Bismarck and Mandan (April–October). During the off-season, participants transition into Production tasks.

Production Services
This area includes a variety of work such as:
- Commercial laundry services
- Janitorial support for local businesses
- Assembly and packaging contracts

Vocational Services
For individuals already in competitive employment with local businesses, HIT offers additional supports and coordination to help them succeed in their roles.

The Sunset Pre-Vocational Program is a supportive and structured environment where participants develop essential work skills, explore job interests, and take steps toward greater independence and community inclusion.
